I wanted to check-in and
share a story with you, because I think you may be able to relate…
When I first got into this whole health and fitness thing, I’ll never forget how confused and easily led I was by everything. If there was a few sciencey buzzwords, I was in.
I was always attracted by the scientific approach, but I didn’t really understand how to really think like a scientist.
I would hear things about “insulin”, “cortisol” and
“biomechanics”.
By someone using these words, I was intrigued (fooled). I immediately thought they knew what they were talking about.
I would change my approach over and over again.
Why?
Because I thought everything I was doing was wrong. It wasn’t, but if I wasn’t doing the latest fancy nutrient timing strategy to “optimise my hormones”, I just felt like I was missing
out.

It’s a messy place to be. You become attracted to the guys who use big words and present complex concepts. But, there’s often a disconnect between such concepts and your actual results.
Since getting lost in the vast web of conflicting information in my earlier years, I would like to think I’ve come out the other end with a pretty balanced view of things.
But, most importantly, I feel that I am actually able
to think like a scientist. If I have a question, I know how to find an answer. It’s empowering.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
However, that takes time. I wouldn’t expect many people to want to go to the lengths that we do to try and understand things, as it can be boring and you may not have the time or interest to spend hours digging into textbooks and PubMed.

We developed the Triage Militia, not with some made up “customer avatar” in mind, but with US in mind. We asked ourselves what WE would have liked to have had access to when we were trying to expand our knowledge bases.
If you are a busy trainer or a trainee who simply doesn’t want to spend the time developing scientific literacy, then that is completely
understandable. You want to read articles that are comprehensive, but not 20 of them to find the answer.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Don’t get me wrong, we are comprehensive in our explanations, but we also give you answers. Coherent answers, that actually piece together. I used to get pissed when I would read multiple articles that just did not fit together at all - it always seemed like I was reading for the sake of reading, with no
endpoint.

If this is you, and you are like us, I think that the Triage Militia would be a worthwhile investment. When I am writing or recording a video, I do so with my 18 year old self in mind. The guy who just fell for buzzwords, without a thorough understanding.

At just €1 per day, the Triage Militia is a small investment for a BIG return of applicable knowledge.
And as they say, knowledge is power.
