What is "health"?
Simple question, right?
If you think it’s a simple question, then you’ve probably got a simple answer, in which case, you’re probably wrong. How do I know? Well, because I was wrong too…
When I first got into this whole health and fitness thing, I thought that I could just continue to tweak training and nutrition variables in the pursuit of better health. This often leads to a path of reductionistic solutions for what is a complex problem. For example, in my case, I thought that “optimising” health was related to specific food choices, which could be improved indefinitely.
How would I then know how to improve my health? Well, once I had the money, I thought I would be able to afford a complex battery of blood tests that I could then use to further optimise my human “machine” through nutritional adjustments. Once I had gotten all of these blood markers in check, I would then be healthy, right?
